It is rare (if ever) that a photo comes right from the camera ready to publish. More often than not, commercial and product photos are taken in less than optimal environments and require editing and modification to prepare them for use in promotional materials.
The following are samples where we've taken photos for a project and drastically improved the quality of the image by adding and removing elements to cast the subject in the best light possible.

The problem:

Photo was taken during the construction of building.

Landscape is rough (no grass)

Contruction equipment and debris are visible.

Modifications Made:

Removed construction materials (ladder on left, piece of scafolding on right)

Removed distracting elements (steeple lights, vent pipes on roof, parking signs on right)

Added clear sky (to add color and provide more focus on building)

The problem:
- The photo was taken during the winter (the trees are bare and the grass is brown)
- The building is north-facing so during the winter the front of the building is in shade. This also places the sun behind the building and causes overexposure of the sky
